Tonight I took a cake to a Stake youth halloween party. They asked for volunteers to provide cakes for the cake walk. I enjoy baking so it was fun. I made a chocolate chip cake with dark chocolate ganache then decorated the top with white icing that looked like a spider web. I put little plastic spiders on top with a dollop of orange glitter gel frosting. It turned out kind of cute I think. Another aside...I took the cake over in a cake carrier. When the sweet sister in charge saw it she said, "Oh, I hope you put the cake on a separate plate." How many times have I brought cakes to ward functions? How many times have I brought cakes to other kinds of functions? Do I not look like I have sense enough to know that if you are dropping off a cake, you should have it on a plate? This was a wonderful lady, but I have to wonder...do people think I am either so stupid or so undomestic that I wouldn't know that a cake for a cake walk has to be on a plate that would not be connected to a cake carrier? I need to learn from this...be careful what you say to sensitive menopausal women. :)
